Well that was certainly more fun for me than recent weeks. Started 14th and finished 3rd, so I'll take it. It was a hell of a race up front for sure. The pictures are from the last 3 laps under green. The 03 was on fresh tires and coming hard. I was just trying to hold on to be honest.
Tough break on the two tire call man. You are getting faster every week, you'll be up there.
You know what is crazy....38 guys signed up for that race, 37 started the race, and 32 finished....everyone ran at least 27 of the 65 laps. That is the biggest race I've ever been in. We have got to get Roscoe, Oddball, Max, etc over to iRacing!!

Completely, we need half the field sporting Nein Shiza. Also man, I forgot to tell you that I only ran one lap of qualifying and didn't want to start at the front so about a second from the line I locked down on the brakes. If I hadn't done that I would have qualified top 5. Can't believe I turned that quick of a lap. Race didn't reflect it but I had some really good laps during practice. Just sucks I screwed myself on the pit strategy. Oh well, maybe next time.

Hahaha....thats awesome! I was the opposite. My qualifying lap was the fastest I have ever run there and I was totally balls out. Whats crazy is I only beat you by a tenth I think.
That is awesome though, I told you were finding speed.

I hate we have 2 off weeks. Cant wait for Texas. If the tune is between Phoenix and Cali I think it'll be good. Went from one extreme to the other.

Saw this on the iRacing forums and thought of you. I won't be around this weekend to partake, but it seemed right up your alley. The major divisions have a $2.50 and $7.50 entry fee, but street stock and limited late model (late model) are free, as well as a couple others. Check it out. The Spring Sizzler at Stafford is a BIG deal in the northeast, so this "Sim Sizzler" could have a good turn out.

That looks incredible. I would love to partake but unfortunately I have a busy week between work and personal life this week. I hope there is a good turn out, if it comes back next year I will for sure take part. So much racing both nights, and it's scheduled like a real event. I love it! Hopefully it will be broadcast somewhere and I can at least watch it.

iRacing.com today announced plans to add dirt surface race tracks and cars to its popular online motorsports simulation service. The world’s leading centralized racing game platform, iRacing enables sim racers to compete in more than 50 different digital race cars on laser-scanned replicas of the world’s most renowned racing circuits, including every track on the 2016 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series schedule as well as legendary road courses such as Road America, Interlagos, Spa-Francorchamps, Monza, Bathurst and the Nürburgring.
In 2015, iRacing introduced a revolutionary dynamic track feature which enables its digital track surfaces to constantly evolve during the course of races based on changing weather conditions and the amount of virtual rubber laid down by competitors. The development of dirt track surfaces is the next step for iRacing, according to Steve Myers, iRacing.com’s Executive Vice President and Executive Producer.
You can watch our video announcement here.
“We are starting a new chapter in our long history and expanding into a new branch of motorsport – dirt,” says Myers. “With the evolution of our new surface model the next natural step was to develop a dirt surface model and dirt race cars.

Well good news is I have a great setup for Oxford as well as a few other tracks for that series. Oxford set up starts off fast and gets a little loose on older tires but stays fast. Bad news is I asked and it's fixed setup. So all the time testing at the tracks was a waste. Can not wait until it starts. I love short tracks! Also I got into a lobby with 3 guys that run this series last night for the open setup concord race. One, that is a great track and I have a good setup for it. Two, I was keeping pace, not in qualifying but was holding my own battling for third with one of the vets of the upstate league and some other random. Was doing great until someone getting lapped looped it and the waited until I was coming by to hit reverse and I slammed the back of his car. Blew the motor next lap. I think I'll be okay in this series. Better than I'm doing in the can am right now.

Dirt late models are confirmed as well as Eldora speedway. Also they did a rallycross teaser a few days ago. So I'm not going to say it's confirmed yet because it wasn't a rallycross car. But either way this is exciting. Can't wait till we get dirt Sprint cars and hopefully we will be able to run a few of the other cars with dirt tires. Trucks at Eldora will be sweet.

Yeah, trucks would be sweet. For the sprints, I bet they'll just modify the current sprint car. That's the quickest way.

Agreed. Rumor is that this will Make it in by the end of the year but I don't know man, that's a lot to do before the end of the year. Unless they release one car and one track, then technically I guess it would be in the game. I'm hoping for at least enough to run a diverse schedule. I would rather wait until it's ready than them rush to get it in and have to do constant updates and fixes.

I ran open lobby races at Texas, a 2nd and 14th. Tire wear is going to be a big deal. I was down to 94% after 5 laps when racing with guys on restarts to get to the bottom. I think you might actually like the set up, its pretty loose. I changed my steering to 14:1 and that help me....don't like it real loose. It does tighten up over the run though, especially as you burn off fuel. My second race went green 50 laps and my right front was 54%. That is literally there worst tire wear I have ever had.

Appeared that way, at least I hope. Al Smith gave me some advice on how to enter the corners there. That helped a lot. I gotta find some speed for sure. Granted, my daughter kept in tapping my sholder and that didn't help any. Next time they do one of these I'll make sure ivget her in bed early so I can get more laps in.

What kind of times are you getting for Texas? I have noticed the car is very loose on cold tires but tightens up quickly once they get some heat in them. I normally hit my fastest time in lap 4 or 5 of a run. Fall off on these tires happens quick though. You loose a lot of speed in the corners after about 10 laps. It appears to be about 1 to2 percent of wear per lap. Should make a long green flag run interesting. Anyways, I'm hitting 29.7xx on fresh tires, 29.702 is my fastest and about 29.9xx after 8 laps then it falls to 30s.

That sounds about right. I think my fastest lap last week was a 29:6xx. I saw a couple guys qualify at a 29:3xx, but I think a 29:6xx is the fastest I saw from anyone in a race.
The tires fall of really quick. I wouldn't be surprised though if we saw green flag pit stops tonight though.

I was watching progeek last night at Texas and they had a couple cautions early then went green for a long piece in the middle. Couple cautions within the last 30 laps then a good green run to the end. Trouble spot is deffinately exiting turn 2 on cold tires. Once they got the temps and pressures up everything seemed to run smooth. Also speaking of the tire pressure, what the hell is up with the fixed setup? Its running a near 20lb split from left to right side pressures. That is extreme and probably contributing to the loose feeling. Just seems a bit odd. About 10 to 12 lbs should be plenty.

Yeah, I'll agree with that. Cold tires out of two feels like you are on marbles. I found staying low on exit, even if it means getting back to the gas a little less or a little late, made for faster lap times and helped with tire wear.
Yeah, the fixed set ups can be a hodge podge mess. Not sure who is creating them this year. I know Ray Alfala did the trucks some of last year, so they may just kind of pass it around to some of the pro guys.

I watched a video of him and his guys creating setups for the gen 6 cars. It would be nice to have a team like that around you. Especially on the set up side of things. Its amazing how much speed they can find just by tweaking the smallest things.

Not to mention a rig like that to use. Beats my rolly chair with the casters on shoes and a flemsy table with the wheel and shifter mounted awkwardly side by side.

My next purchase will be a wheel stand pro with the little shifter mount. I can't use the clutch because I have to literally hold the table steady with my knees or it will bounce everywhere. I'll get a pic tomorrow. Its pretty ghetto. That's not a bad layout though and I love the button box. Much bigger than anything I have looked at getting. Are those switches too? Like little ignition switches?

The button box is awesome. My second favorite purchase behind my pedals. Wood rig death mobiles are the way to go. Super cheap build to fit what you want. This an old Walmart desk that I built the shifter mount for and used an old garage door motion sensor bracket for the button box.
I'm hoping to expand this summer if I can find a cheap racing seat on CL. We'll see though...I have a lot of projects I want to do to the Miata this summer too.

Yeah I know that feeling. Just dropped some money on my car that would have bought me a very nice rig. I have enough wood to do a custom rig but between screws and time to find a seats to mount to it, I could buy the wheel stand, save a little time, and only spend about 50 bucks more. Only real down side is that the seats wouldn't be mounted to the rig, then again I don't really have a lot of room to have a big rig so it could really go either way to which is better. Even though its a little more money the collapsible stand really for better for what I'm looking for. Once I get a bigger place I can build a nicer set up.

85 laps is a lot of laps. That's almost 45 laps on a set of tires. Those things are going to be very burnt up by then. One spin and that will pretty much ruin your chances. Looks like a slow and steady night. I may just go very easy in the early stages and wait as late as possible to put then burn it up in the last 30 laps or so. What you think is the likelihood of making it 55 to 60 laps on a set of tires?

I mean, I can see a green flag run go that long. I ran a caution free 50 lap race in an open lobby last week, so its certainly possible. RF was down to 54% at the end of the race. It was rough.

Okay this will be a lot better than we were thinking. Its evening and track is only 85 degrees. Only used 7% on a 10 lap Sprint rather than about 12% from practicing in the afternoon.

What happened man? I looked up under caution and you were 1st, then BAM, disconnected? That sucks dude. I ended up getting the hang of the old tires and every time I would come through the field someone would lose it right in front of me. Once again someone else screwing up took me out. Made it to 12th and a big pileup in front of me, had no where to go so I put it to the floor and went mid track cause I seen a gap. Then whoooosssh, car out of f*cking nowhere. Clipped my left rear and I bout had it back under control and I guess the damage to the left rear wheel made it not drive straight cause as soon as I have it the slightest throttle it kicked right and I hit the wall at about 60. Not too much damage, just enough to slow me down where I could run wide open the whole track. We had about 3 more cautions that I managed to stay in the lead lap through stopping 2 times per caution to fix the damage. Ended up on about a 15 lap green and I came out of the pits last car on the lead lap running about 15 secs ahead of the leader. Went a lap down at the very end coming in 15th. I finally got a feel for the track and was turning some good laps and every restart I would gain possitions and move toward the front. I thought this was my week. Fouled again by someone else's mistake. Seems like story of the season so far. I just can't wait until the first road course. That's where I'm best.
