Builds on my storefront and cars shared in club garage.

The Alfa has adjutable front and rear aero with the DTM body kit.
The Merc has adjustable rear aero stock.
I included 2 builds for everything but the Alfa (one with full race aero, the other with aesthetic aero).
We'll see how they balance out.

If you have a chance to test, please put any notes you have or suggested build revisions in this thread. Oh, BTW, these cars all have a Sport Transmissions. Luckily they are geared pretty well.

It looks like we're only missing 2 cars from the actual 1993 season. Both are Opels. One of which (the Omega) was also sold as the Lotus Carlton. Looks like I have a couple more builds to do.

Builds are on my storefront if you want to take a peek at the balance.

They are a starting point. The cars in the real series were much more powerful and weighed much less. When I tried to get the right power to weight ratio, they were R3 cars. With handling ratings right around 6. Not very fun. I scaled back the power and made them much more fun to drive.

I need to take a look at the series and see what the actual breakdown was as far as manufacturers. It will likely be along the lines of 4 BMWs and Mercs, 3 Alfas and Lotus, then 2 mustangs.

Yea I KNEW someone would mention The Fresh Prince, I even asked myself if that's who the Car was named after  Razz

Anyone willing to get a Practice/Testing session going in the coming week or so? And is custom building allowed in balancing the cars? They seem great and am impressed just maybe one or two tweaks needed, one for example is a Gearbox some cars have a better ratio than others in Sport so maybe enforce a Race box but limit to 5 Gears like DTM's had.

Okay. For the sake of variety (and to help people get into cars they like), I came up with 2 different scenarios for drivers per car:

Realistic:
Merc x 7
Lotus x 3
Alfa x 3
BMW x 2
Ford x 1

More variety:
Merc x 4
Opel x 4
Alfa x 4
BMW x 2
Ford x 2

I'm pretty much done with my work at the speedway aside from the odd day here or there until they call me back for SpeedWeeks 2015 (or possibly another venue later in the summer), so I'm hoping my schedule will stabilize a bit in the near future. Once that happens, I can start figuring out what nights to hold the events.

Ran some laps with base setups on each car, some adjustments I made brought the Mercedes and the BMW down to the same level as the others, i.e adding weight (closing the gap from 600/700lbs to 300/500lbs), other changes include added Grip and Horsepower, feel free to build a copy and see what you think, I believe this would be nearer the balancing you'd need however I strongly reccommend Race Gearboxes in the restrictions.

Mercedes Build: S625, 430HP, 2767lbs
Engine & Power: All Race, except stock Oil+Cooling
Platform & Handling: All Race, except Sport Weight Reduction
Drivetrain: All Race, except Sport Gearbox
Tyres & Rims: Race Compound, 265 Front, 275 Rear, BBS RS-GT Rims.
Aero: Race Front Bumper

BMW Build: S630, 421HP, 2578lbs
Engine & Power: Race Air Filter, Race Fuel System, Sport Ignition, Race Exhaust, Race Camshaft, Race Valves, Race Displacement, Race Flywheel
Platform & Handling: All Race, except Sport Weight Reduction
Drivetrain: All Race, except Sport Gearbox
Tyres & Rims: Race Compound, 245 Front, 245 Rear, BBS RS-GT Rims.
Aero: Race Front Bumper, Race Rear Wing.

Thanks for the input. My plan is to wait until I gather some data from group testing, then fine tune the builds for each driver preseason.

I'll be opening up a registration thread shortly so we can get some formal testing going.

You can fine tune the builds per driver easily with these, only thing i'd be wary of is how far you go with it, some drivers may find their pace mid-testing whilst others during the race, I would advise a secret *Category* to start the season and have a drivers split between those limits, that way it creates less risk of one or any driver being out-balanced by too far or too short, and also means you get the close racing you want.

I.E Say I went for the Mercedes, Rosco for the BMW and Max for the Ford, what you would have immediately is 3 classes upon ability and experience, so I would loose maybe 2 tire widths and 10HP from my car, Rosco would stay the same, and Max would receive a Bump.

Hope I'm explaining it clearly, this wouldn't be for the whole season just for the Launch, that way if people suddenly find pace before the evening they wouldn't be too outbalanced overall.

As I said, is only a suggestion. Smile

Spent a good 3-4 hour hours last night running laps and fine tuning each of the cars, whilst the adjustments brought the BMW's Speed/Accel down and the Merc's amazing grip reduced to the same background as the other 3 cars, it did create a Major gap for Nurb GP alone, therefor I worked them closer to how you built them originally. Did some more major testing this morning before I have to leave for work and found these to be as close as I myself could drive them, the Lotus is matching both times and the Ford is slightly faster on this circuit as well as Hock and Mugello so maybe consider a slight handling or power reduction.

Hope this helps, sorry if it seems like im butting in, since I used to spend all my time building cars thought id help iron out any errors that could sneak through, I myself know how busy and stressful setting up a series can be so only want to help.
Cheers.

Registration is open. Please see some additional details below.

The permitted number of drivers per car is indicated below:
Merc x 4
Opel x 4
Alfa x 4
BMW x 2
Ford x 2

Teams will be limited to 2 cars each.

Builds can be found in the car specifications section of this sub-forum. Please prepare 2 builds for use in practice - one with race tires and the other with sport tires. For ease of testing, I'd suggest saving the builds as Option 1 and Option 2 as indicated in the build threads.

MERCS & BMWS - please prepare an additional build based on LMR Warspite's recommendations below:

Mercedes Build: S648, 430HP, 2505lbs
Engine & Power: All Race, except stock Oil+Cooling & Stock Pistons
Platform & Handling: All Race
Drivetrain: All Race, except Sport Gearbox
Tyres & Rims: Race Compound, 265 Front, 275 Rear, BBS RS-GT Rims.
Aero: Race Front Bumper

BMW Build: S631, 400HP, 2377lbs
Engine & Power: Race Air Filter, Race Ignition, Race Exhaust, Race Camshaft, Race Valves, Race Pistons, Race Oil + Cooling
Drivetrain: All Race, except Sport Gearbox
Tyres & Rims: Race Compound, 245 Front, 245 Rear, BBS RS-GT Rims.
Aero: Race Front Bumper, Race Rear Wing.

Only modification to the builds suggested by Warspite is 18" rims front & rear.

Please label the setup with Race Tires Option 3 and the setup with Sport Tires Option 4.

As we conduct the formal testing sessions there will be tweaks. Preseason testing will take place at venues not included in the schedule, but should provide a good basis for comparison. Likely candidates for preseason runs include (but are not limited to) Road America, Suzuka Full, and Tsukuba.

I sent out some number boards last night. Those can be used or discarded. I put up new boards and the numbers to be used on the boards in my storefront. I'll be posting the livery requirements soon.
