| According to IMSA scoring the #3 Corvette and the Risi Ferrari didnt attempt to qualify. Not sure why but neither car attempted a lap. |

| Looks like only 7 of the 9 PC cars are attempting to qual as well. The #7 Starworks PC and the #25 8Star Motorsport PC are MIA on the IMSA live timing. Cant believe it but a Oreca FLM09 actually nabbed pole in PC (sarcasm internet, sarcasm)!!! Looks like #54 Colin Braun nabbed pole from #8 Renger Van Der Zande with just a minute or two left. |

| Wow the Corvette DPs have clearly more speed it looks like. Vette DPs are 4 of the top 5 and DPs in general are the top 7 and 9 of the top 10 with the Delta Wing in 8th. Lucas Luhr is the first P2 car in 11th in a Nissan Oreca LMP2. Luhr is a bit over 1.5 seconds off the Vette DP of Alex Gurney in the #99 Gainsco pole sitting car. The next closest LMP2 is 3.5 seconds off pace. |

| as much as i want to see the P2s faster at handling tracks something tells me that the guys in charge want to say "haha look out DP's are faster than your FIA Prototypes" |

| I highly doubt that. That would cheapen the product. Instead the board wants great battling and close as they can competition. Its way to early to claim something like that. The DPs have a TON of new parts and throughout testing have gotten quicker and quicker with each lap. The P2 cars are stuck in a rules package of bolt on/off parts only to adjust performance in order to easily allow for any P2 car to switch over to FIA Le Mans style rules.
I bet possibly going into the Sebring test or there after we will see a power drop of some amount in the DPs to more closely match the two chassis up. One thing will not change though. DPs will be fast at the Daytonas and Kansas type tracks and the P2s will counter with wins at the Long Islands and Detroits. |

| thats what im thinking will happen too except when i go on to think who the owners of the league are. im not chalking it up as sealed and gone yet, dont get me wrong. But its a possibility that im worried about you know? |

| No I dont have any of those concerns. I differ in opinion about the ownership. Like I stated, it would cheapen the product to make the DPs unfairly balanced just to spite some crowd. They want all cars to run as equal times as possible to allow the drivers and their talents to star in the show and win the races over having a unfair advantage week in and out. Truly it will take a whole season of data to assess where the teams are at individually and process all of that data against how much strength is in the chassis itself.
Im amazed that in practice they are rather competitive. Also we have yet to see if the DPs suck the gas down faster than the P2 cars. If thats the case then having faster pace is a must because they will be pitting more. Just so much variable in flux and yet to be seen. We will see soon though like you said. |
