Dutchies again! Empty
PostSubject: Dutchies again!   Dutchies again! EmptyTue 13 May 2014, 9:42 pm

Ok, so I have been crazy busy, 360 almost died, controller did die, and other things happened. I'm back now. The consensus so far has been that the Supercars should keep happening, so I got to thinking.  stirpot

For Season 3, here's how I think balance would be best kept in:

SGT: The GT500/DTM cars are way too fast in corners and not quite fast enough on the straights. So, I thought about limiting downforce to no more than 413 front/579 rear, the maximum for the old ACO/IMSA GTS cars. The DTMs would have -5% power. After running a little testing, this seems to work out fine, with the relative strengths of each car set being relatively subdued. The other cars would maintain their established handicaps.

GT: There isn't much to change, because downforce limits are all over the place and car architecture isn't quite as standardized as in the R2-level categories. The new additions have undergone exhaustive testing to ensure parity between cars.

SS: This is the trial run for this class, which includes GT4 and Silhouette replicas as well as entries from the Superstars. The SEAT Leon Supercopa has its own trophy series within this class in the real DSC, but FM4 limitations prohibit that from happening here. So, that car will be run in the Sport class when it is finalized.

All new models have undergone thorough, exhaustive testing to ensure overall parity. I've tried to make the cars' characters as similar as possible, to prevent one car dominating one week, and another the next, but there are limits to how much I can do.

Funny coincidence, I was just running that car with Oddball. We restricted it, killed it, hit it with an axe, and it still went fast. Also, yes, Dutchies again.
