DSC Procedures Empty
PostSubject: DSC Procedures   DSC Procedures EmptyMon 28 Oct 2013, 2:03 pm

Here's the plan:
It's been finalized.  We'll run on Monday nights, starting November 25, at the usual race time of 8 EST/1 GMT/7 CST/5 PST.  The races will be 2-group fields, Super GT (SGT) and GT, with qualifying races and feature races.  We will run another short 5-race season.

The qualifying race procedures will be as follows:
The first race will have a roughly 15 minute qualifier, where a better lap time lands you a better grid spot.  A GT car that qualifies faster than a SGT car will start ahead of that SGT car.  Afterward, a feature race (~35-40 minutes) will follow.

The procedure for regular races throughout the season will borrow from the SIR and previous season DSC rules, where the qualifying race will be started in reverse championship points order, separated by class.  The GT class will start first, then the SGT class, with a delay of 15 seconds.  The finishing order of this race determines the grid order of the feature race of that night.  Again, a GT car may start ahead of a SGT car.

For full-length races, there will be no qualifying race.  The grid order will be the number of points a racer has, inverted.  This means that the two classes will be intermingled at the start.  Thus, no start delay between classes.  In the event of a tie in points, the lower class will start ahead; and, in the event of a tie between cars in the same class, the car that either (a) has finished in a higher position or (b) finished higher in the first race, if condition (a) results in a draw, will start ahead.

If people want to start sooner rather than later, the races will be:

November 25:  Camino Viejo Extreme
Qualifying Race:  6 laps
Feature Race: 15 laps

December 2:  Catalunya Full
Qualifying Race:  8 laps
Feature Race:  20 laps

December 9:  Nurburgring Nordschleife
Full-length Race:  6 laps

December 16:  Nurburgring GP Full
Qualifying Race:  8 laps
Feature Race:  20 laps

December 23:  Off week for Christmas--if there's another big holiday on your calendar, let me know and I'll make accommodations.

December 30:  Old Le Mans
Full-length Race:  16 laps
What better way to end the year than by blasting down the Mulsanne?  Also, the stupid-fast cars will be limited on this one to ensure parity.

This schedule can easily be delayed if this is not enough time for everyone to get a car together.

Everything from here down is static; it probably won't change given a change in race time.

Points calculation:

As I anticipate fewer cars per class this season, we will use the same system as last time, where

1st = 16
2nd = 15
3rd = 14
4th = 13
5th = 12
6th = 11
7th = 10
8th = 9
9th = 8
10th = 7
11th = 6
12th = 5
13th = 4
14th = 3
15th = 2
16th = 1
DNF = 0

Qualifying Race Win (Pole) = 1
Fastest (CLEAN) Lap during Feature Race = 1
Note that there will be 2 winners of each qualifying race and 2 fastest laps of each feature race, one for each class.

Penalties will be given at the discretion of race directors and upon review, in the form of a start delay, grid position penalty, or drive-through penalty.

Team colors are not really a big deal, as long as cars of different classes do not use the same color.  Player buckets depend on the entering car.  See Car Specs -> Season 2 Car Specs, Super GT and GT.

We're considering adding a few races into this season. Which tracks do you think should be in?
